Where I End And You Begin

A little over a week ago I created an eMusic account. I still don't have internet at my place (soon to change) and have never wanted to use a bit-torrent so this seemed like a good way to get music during my frequent trips to Mars. For the past 3 years I've just taken music from Tyler, Matt and Megan but (especially in Tyler's case) I've limited myself to their tastes in music, and not allowing myself any personal music exploration. Now, as I have expressed previously I am still on my first trials of new music discovery.

Another reason for the eMusic account is to become accustomed to the bands I will have an opportunity to see at Lollapalooza. This year I know 39 of the participating bands right off the bat. More than any of my 3 previous trips. So exciting. And every year they give you a sampler of the bands at the festival. And every year you find out a week/month later that you really like one of the bands on the sampler, but alas...too late to see them.

Not this year.

This year I plan on having new music parties for myself and fellow lollapaloosers. I would like to format them in the way NPR has their All songs considered podcast for upcoming festivals (like SXSW). Have a few people listen through a couple of bands and present what they feel is the quintessential song/songs for said band. Then, when the schedules are released we can begin the headache of deciding 'who to see'. But at least we will be aware of what we're missing. Oh, so exciting!

Hey!

If any of you are history lovers like myself I highly, highly recommend the podcast "Dan Carlin's Hardcore History". It's my favorite podcast by far. A lot of production goes into and they ask that you pay a dollar for each one you listen to for the cost of making them and I'm going to pay it because I like it so much.
